A Group with a Common Passion

Konverse Dance Crews was founded in 2014 by Elvire Mavusi Matu at the age of 14 going on 15, a member of the Salvation Army Church in Barking. The Salvation Army believed in Elvire’s ability to run regular dance classes and it came to pass.

It was formed to create a platform for young people to communicate and express themselves through dance and now offers classes for 5-18 year olds including a parents’ class. KDC have worked with over 700 young people across the UK. Auditions are held to recruit more passionate dancers who wish to grow in confidence, health and respect.

The Salvation Army Barking have been supporting and encouraging KDC to help us to outreach and reach more members.

We as KDC also support and engage in other volunteering projects, for example in 2015, CleanupUK teamed up with dance group KDC Elite to litter pick around Barking and Dagenham, then used the space to perform an exciting dance piece.

We also offer employment opportunities to young people which also supports their leadership skills and growth.

As of October 2022 Konverse Dance Crews LTD is now operating independently.
